The residential complex House of Architects on Rostov Embankment 5 is a beautiful semicircular building located on the upper bank of the Moskva River opposite the Kiev railway station. The main architect of the project was Alexey Shchusev. The building was a real long-term construction – construction work began in 1934, stopped in 1938, resumed and ended only in the 1960s. The architectural concept is designed in the style of the "Stalinist Empire". The building consists of a semicircular central part and side wings lined with beige brick. The house is built on a plot on the elevated bank of the Moskva River, where the Rostov farmstead and the old Church of the Annunciation of the Lord, built in the 17th century, are located. The building encircles the church from two sides, the construction was carried out in such a way as to preserve the architectural monument - perhaps it was Shchusev's personal idea. At various times, famous Soviet architects lived in the House of Architects residential complex on Rostov Embankment 5: the Vesnin brothers, Moses Ginzburg, Vladimir Krinsky, Sergei Barkhin, Georgy Orlov, Alexander Opolovnikov, as well as other prominent figures of culture and science.
